The E-Hawk boys' and girls' basketball teams would travel to Rockwell City on Friday night, Dec. 20, to take on South Central Calhoun (SCC) in a pair of Twin Lakes Conference matchups. The Lady E-Hawks would find success on the court, handily defeating the Titans, 67-37, while the Emmetsburg boys would fall in a 65-46 setback.

It was a tale of two halves for the Lady E-Hawks as they got off to a slow start in the first quarter of play, scoring seven points to the Titan's 10. By halftime, the Emmetsburg girls would tie the score, 17-17. After the break, the Lady E-Hawks would explode onto the court, outscoring the Titans 50-20 in the second half to pull off the 67-37 final.

Molly Schany and Raven Brown would lead the Lady E-Hawks in scoring, with Schany putting 12 on the board and Brown adding 10. Teammates Abbie Schany and Lindsay Carter would each score nine points on the night for the Emmetsburg girls.

Defensively, Hailey Foxhoven would grab seven rebounds for the Lady E-Hawks, Molly Schany recovered six, and Abbie grabbed five.

The win improves the Lady E-Hawks to 5-2 on the season.

The Emmetsburg boy's team would struggle against the Titans during Friday night's contest.

"South Central Calhoun is a very talented and athletic group with a lot of ability to score," said Head Coach Bill Geelan. "Their length and athleticism made it a challenge for us to execute at times."

During the first quarter, the Titans would take advantage of an early offensive run to gain a seven point lead over the E-Hawks, 19-12. SCC would continue to outscore Emmetsburg during the second, heading into the break ahead by 12. The E-Hawks would find some footing early in the second half, holding the Titans to 10 points in the third quarter while putting up 15 of their own. However, the E-Hawks would be unable to stop a Titan offensive streak midway through the fourth quarter to finish the game behind by 19. The loss brings the E-Hawks to 3-4 on the season.

At press time, individual statistics were not available for the boy's game.

After the winter break, the E-Hawk boys' and girl's teams will head to Okoboji on Thursday, Jan. 9, to take on the Pioneers.
