E-Hawks Find Their Rhythm

The E-Hawks improved to 12-8 on the season after three straight wins at Emmetsburg High School throughout last week. On Tuesday, Feb. 4, the E-Hawks defeated Alta in a close 55-53 win, while on Thursday the boys beat ELC, 61-52, and conquered St. Mary's on Friday, 50-31.

Tuesday's two point win over Alta saw the boys off to a good start, edging out Alta in the first half by 10 points. After the break the E-Hawks would continue a solid defensive effort but stumble in the fourth quarter, allowing Alta to catch a scoring run that almost put the Warriors on top.

GRAB THE BALL - The E-Hawks jump for the rebound during Friday night’s 50-31 win over St. Mary’s. The Emmetsburg boys would grab 30 rebounds on the night.

Ben Dunlap would lead the charge for the E-Hawks, scoring 22 points on the night. Dunlap had a strong defensive outing, grabbing 11 rebounds at the net.

Lex Kassel and Tim Geelan would each put up 11 points during the contest, with Kassel sinking three from the three-point line.

Thursday's win over the Midgets would see the E-Hawk momentum gradually mounting as the game progressed. The boys would enter halftime behind 27-23 but explode onto the court after the break, outscoring ELC 38-25 in the second half.

Dunlapn would again put up 22 points on the night while Sean Europa scored 17 and Kassel added 12 to the board.

On Friday night, the E-Hawks would dismantle St. Mary's offense, forcing turnovers throughout the first and second halves and grabbing 30 rebounds under the net.

Dunlap scored 19 points on the night and had 12 rebounds. Kassel and Zach Foxhoven each scored seven points on the night, with Foxhoven grabbing five rebounds.

The E-Hawks will face Manson-Northwest Webster at Emmetsburg High School on Thursday night, Feb. 13.
