A memorial service for Lyle Muller of Emmetsburg will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at Soper Park in Emmetsburg.

Lyle Edward Muller, son of Elmer and Thelma (Senteney) Muller was born Aug. 26, 1931 in Laurens. He was raised and attended school in Laurens where he met his wife, Joyce.

On Oct. 8, 1950, Lyle was united in marriage to Joyce La Vonne Hauenstein in Laurens. The couple had been married for 69 years.

Lyle wore many hats in his younger days. He worked at a gas station, and he was a police officer, trucker, ambulance director/first aide instructor for Palo Alto County Hospital and he worked at Snap-on Tools. He was also an organizer for the local AA group. One of his greatest accomplishments was the celebration of his 37th year of sobriety in 2019.

Lyle enjoyed camping and spending winters in Mission, TX. He loved going to coffee at Dyno's with the crew. He enjoyed taking his grandson, Ty fishing, and listening to his CB radio.

On Monday, June 15, 2020, Lyle passed away at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg at the age of 88.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Joyce of Emmetsburg; three children: Steve (Kathy) Muller of Clear Lake, Kathy (the late Arnold) Heng of Emmetsburg and Denny Muller of Emmetsburg; two sisters: Retha Adkins of Omaha, NE and Karen (Dick) Orndorf of Spring Mills, PA; three grandchildren: Ty (Nicole) Heng of Mallard, Heather (Nate) Angel and Eric (Jenna) Muller all of Texas; and his foster daughter, Connie Morrison of Simpsonville, SC.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Irma; grandson, David Muller, son-in-law, Arnold Heng and brother-in-law, Skip Adkins.
