E-Hawks Face Setbacks

Last week, the Emmetsburg E-Hawks would fall with a pair of losses to Manson Northwest Webster (MNW),16-13, and West Bend-Mallard (WBM), 2-0.

During Wednesday's contest with MNW, the E-Hawks couldn't recover in a high-scoring affair.

MNW opened up scoring against Emmetsburg in the first inning, when an error scored one run, while in the second, MNW put six on the board.

The E-Hawks would launch one home run on the day, when Grant Kibbie hit the long ball in the second.

Dunlap would lead Emmetsburg in runs with four, while Cole Shirk, Cole Keller, and Kibbie each had two. Ryan Brennan, Seth Freeman, and Lex Kassel scored one run, with Kassel leading the charge in stolen bases with three.

On Friday, the E-Hawks traveled to West Bend to face the Wolverines. Both teams played hard but WBM was stronger at the plate, earning the 2-0 victory over Emmetsburg.

Lex Kassel would start the game for the E-Hawks, recording 18 outs on the day.

For WBM, Cole Thilges and Nolan Ford would each score in the third inning, while Thilges pitched for seven innings, allowing five hits and zero runs, striking out 12.

Emmetsburg hosted Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire on Monday, and take on Spencer on Tuesday at home, Alta-Aurelia on Wednesday at home, and face Pocahontas Area at Pocahontas on Friday.
