Funeral service for Bruce H. Osborn of Cylinder was held Monday, Jan. 11, at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. Pastor Judy DePue officiated.

Interment was in South St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Cylinder. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.

Bruce Howard Osborn, son of Earl "Shorty" and Ethel Lillian (Twait) Osborn, was born June 13, 1939 near Seneca, IA. In 1942 Bruce's family moved to Illinois where they made their home until 1951 when they returned to Iowa and made their home near Cylinder. Bruce graduated from Cylinder High School in 1958.

Bruce served in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska. He was discharged from the service due to "family emergency" when his father became ill.

Bruce began farming in 1960 and continued his entire life. He operated Osborn Cattle Company for many years and also did grain farming. Most recently he had enjoyed farming with his nephew, A.J.

Bruce also did documentaries of various events and was a partner in Movie Production L.L.C. Bruce loved dogs and was particularly fond of German Shepherds. He also enjoyed his Lincoln Continental cars.

On June 30, 1962 Bruce was united in marriage to Marlene Ann Nelson, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Depew.

Bruce was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Depew. He enjoyed attending the Threshermen's Show in Albert City where he made videos of the event.

Bruce passed away on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021 at Avera Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl "Shorty" and Ethel Osborn; his brother, Jon Osborn; and his sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Carroll Olson.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marlene of Cylinder; sister-in-law, Sherry (John) Bredehoeft; nieces and nephews, Annie, A.J. (Kristine), Deb, Denise and Diane; as well as other relatives and friends.
