Doris M. Frost

DOWNERS GROVE, IL - Doris M. Frost, née Quam; mother of Stephen A. (Mary K.) Frost and Dr. Thomas W. (Janet) Frost; grandmother of Dr. Erik J. (Moira) Frost, Allison A. (Steve) Ray, Andrew (Dr. Katie) Frost, and Peter Frost (Amanda Schilling); great-grandmother of Erik J. Frost Jr., Bridget Frost, Lucy Ray, Julia Ray, Alexandra Ray, Shepard Frost, Bear Frost, and Ranger Frost; and sister of Dorothy “Dodie” Sucre, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022.
Doris was born to Fred and Anna Quam. She spent her formative years growing up on a farm outside of Emmetsburg. After her family moved to town, Doris graduated from Emmetsburg Public High School. She then graduated with a nursing degree from the Iowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines. Doris worked at various medical facilities over the years, primarily at Calvin Community (formerly Calvin Manor) where she worked as the Director of Nursing for many years. Doris was an excellent mother who believed in “tough love” long before that approach to child-rearing became popular. She also loved to socialize with friends and family members.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Frost; her parents; her brothers, Stanley Quam, Norman Quam, and Donald Quam; and her sisters, Lilian Anderson, Anetha Kelly, and Frances Myklestad.
A Private Family Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Church in Downers Grove, IL, on a future date. Doris and James will be interred in the Emmetsburg Cemetery at a private family gathering on a future date as well.
