Emmetsburg Cross Country Competes At 2021 Tim Thomas XC Classic

HOLSTEIN -- Emmetsburg E-Hawk Cross Country would compete at the Tim Thomas XC Classic Invitational, held at the Holstein Country Club, on Saturday, Sept. 11.

E-Hawk Varsity boys would secure 13th overall with an average 5K run time of 23:38. The varsity girls would place 14th overall with an average time of 26:29, an average 30 seconds faster compared to the girls’ season opener.

Varsity girls were led by Isabel Doyle, a junior, running a 24:58 and taking 60th. Jenna Frields, a freshman, was close behind clocking a time of 25:06 and taking 63rd. Doyle had shaved off 37 seconds compared to her time from the season opener, and Frields improved by 33 seconds from her previous season best.

Varsity boys were led by Fabian Bowman, a sophomore, who took an 18:38 time to place him at 28th. Senior Isaac Janssen clocked a time of 19:57 following Bowman and taking 52nd. Ben Hurley, a sophomore, finished behind Janssen getting a time of 24:11, coming 92nd. Hurley was able to reduce his previous season best by one minute and 12 seconds.

Following Monday’s home invitational, Emmetsburg E- Hawk Cross Country will compete next on Monday, Sept. 20 at the Humboldt Wildcats Invitational.
