Get Ready For Residential Clean-Up Week

Posted

If it’s time to do some Spring cleaning, Emmetsburg residents can take advantage of Residential Clean-Up Week. The week of June 7 through June 11 has been designated clean-up week.

To participate in clean-up week, residents must purchase a $15 permit from Emmetsburg City Hall. Permits will be available starting May 28, and purchased with check or cash only. There will be no refunds.

This is a one-day event. Emmetsburg Public Works employees will pick up extra garbage on the designated pick-up day only. There will be no return trips.

Pick-up day corresponds with normal solid waste pick-up day. For example, if a resident’s solid waste pick-up is on Monday, clean-up day will also be on Monday.

The permit must be displayed at the designated house registered at City Hall. Display the permit facing the normal garbage pick-up area. Residents cannot share a tag with anyone else.

Items to be collected should be placed at curbside no earlier than two days before the scheduled pick-up day. Items must originate from the residence for which the permit was purchased.

Rummaging through or removing items placed out for pick-up is permitted. Rummaging should be done neatly.

The city reserves the right to reject any items placed out for collection.
