RUTHVEN -- Funeral service for Marvin “Muff” Enns was held Tuesday, June 21, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven. The Rev. Eric Patten officiated.
Interment was in Lost Island Lutheran Cemetery, Ruthven. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven was in charge of arrangements.
Marvin D. Enns, son of Abram and Martha (Kunkel) Enns, was born Dec. 1, 1937 at Mountain Lake, MN. As a young boy, Marvin became known to his family and friends as Muff. He received his education in Mountain Lake, graduating from Mountain Lake High School in 1955. Following high school Muff served in the United States Army from April 1, 1958 until March 31, 1960 when he was honorably discharged. During his service time, Muff was stationed in Germany for 18 months.
On Nov. 28, 1965 Muff was united in marriage to Shirley A. Thu in Graettinger. They were blessed with a son, John and a daughter, Karla.
Muff was employed at Jansen Electric and Kleiwer Electric before starting Enns Electric which he owned and operated for 15 years. Muff then went to work for Wigdahl Hardware.
Muff was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and had served on the church board. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He also served as a fireman on both Mountain Lake and Ruthven Fire Departments.
Muff enjoyed gardening and fishing. He could often be found having coffee with the guys at Lakeland. Muff was also a volunteer at the Ruthven Community Care Center.
Muff passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 at his home in Ruthven, at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abram and Martha Enns; brothers, Harvey and Jerry Enns; sisters, Susan Enns and Lois Oeltjenbruns; a grandson, Joseph Griggs; brothers-in-law, Richard Oeltjenbruns and Marvin Hanson; and sister-in-law, Fay Enns.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Ruthven; his children, John A. (Paula) of St. Joseph, MO and Karla J. (Doug) Griggs of Pleasant Hill; five grandchildren, Chris (Ashley) Henderson, Daniel Enns, Cameron (Hannah) Henderson, Nicole Griggs and Paige Griggs; a great grandson, Nash Henderson; a sister, Janice (Marvin) Hanson of Odin, MN; as well as many other relatives and friends.
