Janice Budd, age 85 of Emmetsburg, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the Emmetsburg Care Center in Emmetsburg. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 10:30 AM at the Mallard United Methodist Church in Mallard. Burial will take place at Rush Lake Cemetery in Mallard. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the Mallard United Methodist Church in Mallard. Services have been entrusted with Lentz Funeral Home of Mallard.
Janice Jean Budd was born on October 23, 1937 to Burt and Mildred (Peters) King in Curlew, Iowa. Janice graduated from Curlew High School in 1955. Janice was united in marriage to Dean Michael Budd in 1956. The couple lived on a farm north of Mallard and raised their son Dennis. Janice worked for Kathleen's Assisted Living as their bookkeeper. In her spare time, Janice liked to spend time outdoors, camping and visiting with friends. She was a very devoted member to the Mallard United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish Janice's memory are her son: Dennis Budd of Sioux Falls; grandchildren: Cayden Budd and Kinsley Budd along with their mom: Belle Budd of Sioux Falls; nieces and nephews: Julie, Lynn, Diane, and Alan Nettifee and Donnie King; great niece: Franccesca McIntire and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Burt and Mildred King; infant son Daniel; brothers: Don (and his wife: Franca) King and Gordon (and his wife: Beverly) King; sister-in-law: Charlene (and her husband: Carl) Nettifee; nephew: Brian Nettifee, and niece: Kathy Budd.
