Funeral services for Marjorie Solberg were held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

Marjorie Ann (Christenson) Solberg died peacefully at St. Luke Lutheran Home in  Spencer, IA on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. 

 The daughter of Ray and Hazel (Sword) Christenson, she was born in Freeborn County, Geneva, MN on Wednesday, February 19, 1936, the first of 13 children (10 boys and 3 girls.)  She graduated from Emmons (MN) High School in 1954 where she received the Citizenship Award.

 Marjorie and Phillip Eugene Solberg were united in marriage on Sunday, June 20, 1954.  They lived in Anchorage, AK for two years while Phillip served in the U.S. Army.  

Following his military service they farmed near Cylinder, IA until they retired to Emmetsburg, IA in 1984. In 1977 Marjorie was honored by the Palo Alto County Pork  Producers for “Outstanding Pork Production by a Woman.” 

Phillip died on Friday, April 10, 1987 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN at age 54. 

In 1984 Marjorie began her home baking business “Marjorie’s Goodies” which she  continued for 34 years. She also loved handiwork, sewing over 100 hand-quilted quilts and  many embroidered and counted cross stitch items. She was also a flower lover and enjoyed her  beautiful garden. 

Marjorie is survived by her daughter JuLee (Jeff) Buchman of Sioux City, IA; her two sons, David (Barbara) Solberg of Spencer, IA and Bennie (Robin) Solberg of Newtown, PA; grandchildren Carisa (Rob) Keeling, Laura Yungbluth, Connie (Josh) Guertin, Meredeth (Blake) Rife, Grant (Bao) Buchman, Matthew Solberg and by love Hoi (Reez) Kinchella and 16 great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Phillip; parents Raymond and Hazel Christenson; 3 brothers, Raymond, Steven and Palmer Christenson and granddaughter Grace Susan Solberg. 

The family thanks the staff of St. Luke Lutheran Home and Avera at Home Hospice for their loving care extended to Marjorie. Thank you also to Martin-Mattice Funeral Home.
