Michael “Mike” Clifford Mansmith, age 61, of Austin, MN, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on May 31, 2025.

Mike was born in Estherville, IA, on September 10, 1963, to Ron and Joan Mansmith. He grew up in Emmetsburg, IA, where he attended school from kindergarten through 12th grade, before going on to study at the University of Iowa.

Mike will be remembered for his compassion, generosity, and a deep kindness that touched everyone who knew him. He loved to laugh—and even more, he loved making others laugh with his sharp and playful sense of humor.

In his younger years, Mike was an avid waterskier, always striving to be the first one on the water after the ice melted in the spring. A talented musician, he played trombone during his school years, and he also enjoyed lifting weights and playing tennis. His early years of helping his grandparents at their fishing resort came back as he started fishing again; he loved his annual trips up north with his college roommate Lynn Morstad and to a resort with his wife, Amy. He also took great pride in caring for the yard at their new home and was especially thrilled about a recently completed garage addition—a project that brought him a lot of happiness.

On August 1, 1999, Mike married the love of his life, Amy. That day, he not only gained a wife but also a daughter, Kristal, who quickly became his pride and joy.

Mike spent the majority of his career working as a maintenance mechanic. Through his work, hobbies, and relationships, he lived with quiet strength and a generous heart. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother-in-law, Judy Puttin.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Amy Mansmith of Austin, MN; daughter, Kristal (Josh) Jameson of Foster City, CA; his parents, Ron and Joan Mansmith of Alexandria, MN; his brother, Mark (Erica) Mansmith of Cameron, NC; and his sister, Jennifer (Scott) Needham of Alexandria, MN. He is also survived by his cherished nieces and nephews, Sam, Emily, Matthew, Josiah, and Abby.

Due to an unexpected medical emergency involving Mike's beloved wife, Amy,  the memorial service originally scheduled for Saturday June 7th at 2:00 pm will be POSTPONED. We will share the rescheduled date and details once they are finalized. Thank you for your continued prayers, love and understanding during this very difficult time.

Memorials can be sent to Worlein-Hoff Funeral Home in Austin and will be forwared to Amy. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com
