The Palo Alto Gun Club will be hosting a regional Iowa Games Trapshoot on Saturday Aug. 15. The event will be held at Sportsman Recreation Area located at 5256 360th Street in Cylinder.
Activities will start with practice at 8:30 a.m. if desired, and competition beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Competition will consist of three 50-target events: 16 yard, handicap and doubles. Participants can shoot in one or all three events. This Iowa Games Trapshoot is open to all Iowa residents.
Allowable equipment includes: shotgun, maximum 12 ga., 3 dram, 7 1/2 shot, 1 1/8 oz. target loads. Hearing and eye protection are required. All shooters are responsible for their own equipment.
All ATA rules and safe gun handling procedures will be enforced. Minimum handicap yardage will be 19 yards.
Tie breakers will be handled in a format set by the host site commissioners.
Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded to the top three athletes in each division, as well as for youth teams. Youth teams will shoot as a team, with teams consisting of five shooters. Team awards are based on the combined 16 yard score.
Youth athletes may enter a higher grade level (i.e. 5th graders can shoot with 8th graders, etc.) to complete a team.
