Visitation for Patricia Erickson will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 Pm on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Henry Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville, Iowa. The funeral service will be held at the same location at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Pastor Perry Aalgaard will be the officiant. Burial will be held at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Terrell, Iowa.
Patricia Loucille Erickson, daughter of Lyle and Lenore (Kahler) Chapman, was born on March 28, 1931, in Spencer, Iowa. She passed away at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa on September 21, 2024, at the age of 93.
Pat graduated from Terril High School and later attended Milwaukee Downer College for a year. She then returned home and was united in marriage to Donald Erickson on June 11, 1950, in Terril. The couple raised their family in Terril and Estherville. After their children were grown Pat was employed at Iowa Lakes Community College as a library assistant for 20 years. Don passed away on October 1, 2016. After Don’s passing Pat moved to Milford, Iowa and in March of this year moved to Accura Healthcare of Milford.
Pat was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville. After retirement Pat worked as Evangelical Director for many years at the Estherville United Methodist Church. Pat enjoyed reading, sewing, and bird watching. Pat and Don were longtime members of the Iowa Great Lakes Road Riders Motorcycle Club. Pat cherished the times she spent with her family and friends.
Left to cherish Pat’s memory are her children, Steven Erickson and his wife, Michele of Estherville Iowa; David Erickson and his wife, Phyllis of Emmetsburg, Iowa; Janice Ferguson of Dickens, Iowa; Jodi Pospisil and her husband, Neil of Napanoch, New York; Jon Erickson of Estherville, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren, plus two more great-greats on the way; sisters-in-law Alice Mitts, Marlys Kroenke, Dee Erickson; brother-in-law Dale Erickson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She has been preceded in death by her husband Don; her parents, Lyle and Lenore Chapman; mother and father-in-law, Adolph and Lucille Erickson; stepmother, Lucille Chapman; sister, Ginny Thiesen; son-in-law, Hal Ferguson; nephew, Chris Erickson; brothers-in-law, Henry Kroenke, Carl Mitts, Roger Erickson, and sister-in-law Hazel Erickson.
