Poet Offers $10,000 Reward for Information on Arson

EMMETSBURG, Iowa (June 4, 2025) – POET Bioprocessing – Emmetsburg is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the identification and arrest of the individual(s) responsible for an act of arson on-site.

The incident occurred on the night of May 12 and resulted in approximately $5 million worth of losses in corn stover. Fortunately, no injuries occurred, and operations have continued safely. There is an ongoing investigation by local fire authorities and law enforcement as arson is suspected in this incident.

“This is a serious criminal act that put people and property at risk,” said Benjamin Gustafson, General Manager of POET Bioprocessing – Emmetsburg. “We are committed to the safety of our team members and the surrounding community. We are working closely with local law enforcement to ensure those responsible are held accountable.”

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office and other local authorities are actively investigating.

“We urge anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward. Public cooperation is key to resolving this case and ensuring justice is served,” said County Sheriff John King.
