RUTHVEN -- Funeral services for Prasith “Souk” Keoninh of Ruthven will be held Saturday, Sept. 24.
A service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m., led by the leaders of the Lao Temple, at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven.
Visitation is Friday, Sept. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven.
Prasith “Souk” Keoninh, son of Pouk and Phao (Chindavong) Keoninh, was born June 1, 1956 in Wat Thai, Laos. He received his education in Laos growing up on his parents’ pineapple and rice farm. Besides helping on his family’s farm, Souk worked for the Americans transporting artillery during the war in Laos. On Feb. 1, 1974, Souk was united in marriage to Mone Cam. They were blessed with three children.
In August 1980, the Keoninhs arrived in the United States, making Ruthven their new home. Souk was employed with Nelson Farms for ten years and then began working for Ken and Scott Krause at Ken Krause Motors, where he remained employed for 28 years.
Souk was a member of the Lao Temple in Storm Lake. He enjoyed cooking and going fishing. In his younger years he participated in Thai Boxing and liked following boxing throughout his life. He was an avid Seahawk fan and always had a big garden each year. Souk spoiled his grandchildren every chance he had. One of their special treats was getting donuts from Casey’s once a week.
Prasith Keoninh passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022 at his home in Ruthven. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pouk and Phao Keoninh; a brother, Kent; a sister, Phoutthasin; and a grandson, Chris.
He is survived by his wife, Mone Keoninh of Ruthven; his children, Lee (Siriluck) Keoninh of Seattle, WA, Santi Keoninh of Ruthven, and Jenny (Adam) Steffen of Ruthven; four grandchildren, Eli Steffen, Josilyn Steffen, Aleyah Keoninh, and Myra Steffen; brothers, Khambao Keoninh of Dallas, TX, Sisavanh (Tui) Keoninh of Seattle, WA, Le (Pon) Keoninh of Murfreesboro, TN; sisters, Kham (Seng) Boualaphanh of Murfreesboro, TN and Phouthat Chanthalasy of Wat Thai, Laos; as well as other relatives and many friends.
