A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Augut 19, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Emmetsburg, Iowa. Rev. John Thomas will officiate the ceremony. Inurnment will take place at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Emmetsburg.
Sharon Elizabeth Lavrenz, daughter of Henry and Helen (Widen) Arndorfer, was born March 7, 1946, in Algona, Iowa. She received her education in Algona, graduating from Algona High School. Following high school, she attended LaJames College and Beauty School in Mason City where she earned a degree in cosmetology.
On September 2, 1967, Shari was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Lavrenz in Algona. They were blessed with three children.
Shari was a cosmetologist for many years along with being a daycare provider where she provided child care for many families.
Shari was a faithful member of Holy Family Parish in Emmetsburg, Iowa.
She enjoyed being social with her friends and spending time outdoors, especially in her backyard doing yard work. She also liked painting and coloring, sewing, and watching westerns on TV. But above all, she loved being with her family and was a devoted supporter of her grandchildren in all of their activities.
Shari passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023, at her home in Emmetsburg, Iowa, at the age of 77. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hank and Helen; husband, Richard Lavrenz; and brother-in-law, Howard Wellendorf.
She is survived by her children, Jena Johnson of Shakopee, Minnesota, Troy Lavrenz of Tampa, Florida, and Brenda (Troy) McAllister of Emmetsburg, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Taylor Johnson, Cierra McAllister, Maddie Johnson, Hunter McAllister, Tanner Johnson, Macy McAllister, and Emma Johnson; brother, Rich (Dee) Arndorfer of Bancroft, Iowa; sister, Gloria Wellendorf of Council Bluffs, Iowa; as well as many other relatives and friends.
