William “Bill” Ulrich, age 73, of Mallard, passed away Tuesday January 28, 2025 at Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Funeral services were 10:30 am Saturday at Lentz Funeral Home in Mallard, with burial in Ellington Cemetery of rural Mallard. Visitation was 4:00 - 7:00 PM Friday at Lentz Funeral Home in Mallard. Bill’s service was Live Streamed on the Lentz Funeral Home website.
William Frank Ulrich, the son of Frank Robert and Kathryn (McGrauth) Ulrich, was born on April 23, 1951 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He graduated from Mallard High School in 1968. Bill served in the Iowa Army National Guard. He worked at the West Bend Elevator and Medford’s in Laurens before he started farming.
Bill enjoyed farming and sharing his passion with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed quilting, making peach jam, peach pie with homemade crust, cookies and black raspberry ice cream from the A&W. Bill was a loving and caring brother and son.
Left to cherish Bill’s memory are his siblings, Betty (Robert) Barber of Algona, Janet (Ed) Leuer of Camp Verde, AZ, Mary (Brent) Hilton of Mallard, Nancy (Floyd) Crandall of Clinton, Sandra Henderson of Graettinger, David Ulrich of Mallard, Debra (Jeff) Falkena of Albert City and Darryl (Tory) Ulrich of West Bend; a brother-in-law, Clifford Barber of Omaha, NE; his significant other, Jan Grethen of Mallard; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Judith Barber and Ruth Halder; brothers, Robert Ulrich and James Ulrich; and a nephew, Adam Ulrich.
Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Algona.
