Funeral service for Deidre Lynn Hoffman will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Bill Schreiber will officiate. Interment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetary in Emmetsburg. Arrangements were made by Martin-Mattice Funeral Home.
Deidre Lynn Hoffman, daughter of Charles and Zelda (Scott) Hagedorn was born March 12, 1980 in Iowa City. Deidre attended South Clay Community school through 6th grade. She then completed her education at Ruthven-Ayrshire Community School, graduating in 1998.
On August 13, 2005, Deidre was united in marriage to Kyle Hoffman at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. They were blessed with two daughters, Amya and Mylee.
Deidre worked at Sunshine Services in Spencer where she helped adults with disabilities. She later was employed at Emmetsburg Publishing and then at the Emmetsburg Catholic School.
Deidre loved people and she loved life. She had a mind of her own but a heart of gold and was always ready to help others. Deidre took every opportunity she could to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially going camping and boating or spending time with her six dogs. Taking a trip to Hawaii with Kyle and their girls in July was a big highlight in Deidre’s life and a great memory for her family. Deidre was a great cook and enjoyed making decorations to brighten her home. She loved purses, stylish clothing and anything “glitzy and girly”.
Deidre passed away December 27, 2022, at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg at the age of 42. She was preceded in death by her father, Chuck Hagedorn; brothers-in-law, John Miller and Mike Hoffman; a nephew, Bryson Hagedorn; and very close friends, Luke and Lacey Rouse.
She is survived by her husband, Kyle Hoffman and their daughters, Amya and Mylee Hoffman of Emmetsburg; her mother, Zelda Hagedorn of Dickens, Iowa; brothers, Marlan (Shelley) Hagedorn of Dickens, and Pete Hagedorn of Dickens; a sister, Carmie Miller of Dickens; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronald and Marjorie Hoffman of Emmetsburg; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Scott (Danelle) Hoffman of Logan, Iowa, Steve (Martha) Hoffman of West Bend, Gerry (Molly) Hoffman of Charles City, Brian (Melanie) Hoffman of Emmetsburg, Laurie (Brent) Miller of Bremerton, Washington and Christie (Tommy) Smolik of Emmetsburg; nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and many friends.
