Military Honors: Nelson-Christensen American Legion Post #162 and United States Army Honor Guard.
Donald Junior Flint, son of Jens and Nettie (Larsen) Flint, was born on May 2, 1927, in Ringsted. He passed away on December 25, 2022, at his home near Ruthven, at the age of 95 years.
Don finished 8th grade before farming for his dad. He then enlisted in the United States Army. He was an MP in Berlin after the war ended, from July ’45-Dec. ’46. A contractor recently found a letter his sister wrote to him while he was in the service. So Cool!
After he returned home, he went to work at the Osgood Elevator. It was at this time he met Josephine Hickey. They were married Nov. 28, 1953. Next Nov. they would have been married 70 years. Don really missed Jo after her passing in Aug. 2021.
They farmed for many years: dairy, pigs, chickens & sheep in their retirement. He was proud to have been a farmer that used 4 row equipment. He only used International equipment as green didn’t work for him.
Don loved sports, following his grandchildren and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He also loved to read.
Left to cherish Don’s memory are his children, Diane (Daryl) Frerichs, Estherville and Steve Flint, Ruthven; six grandchildren, Kellie, Chris, Angie, Amanda, Kayla, and Brady; ten great-grandchildren, Austin, Michael, Hanna, Mikayla, Susanna, Caroline, Matilda, Peyton, Carson and Avery; his brother, Arnold Flint and sister-in-law, Elaine Flint; as well as many other extended family and friends.
Don is preceded in death by his wife, Jo Flint, his parents, brother Harvey in infancy and Dale, and sisters Clara, Helen, Alice, Dora, and Annabelle.
