Genevieve passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the Emmetsburg Care Center in Emmetsburg, Iowa, at the age of 101.
Visitation will be Saturday October 14, 2023 at 10:00-11:00 A.M. at the Martin Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa. The Memorial Service will follow. John Rudd will officiate. Inurnment will be at St Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Mallard, Iowa
Genevieve Florette Reinders, daughter of Robert “Ed” and Anna (Kirtz) Kendall, was born July 12, 1922, in Mallard, Iowa. She received her education in Mallard, graduating from Mallard Community High School.
On June 5, 1943, Genevieve was united in marriage to Elmer Reinders in Southern Pines, South Carolina. To this union, they were blessed with four children.
Genevieve worked in the Mallard Community School system for several years as a librarian’s assistant. She was a part of the Red Hat Society, Spring Hills Country Club Women’s Organization, St. Mary’s Christian Mothers, and was always a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mallard.
She loved going to church, playing cards, especially “500”, golfing, and getting together with her coffee group.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Anna Kendall; husband, Elmer Reinders; granddaughter, Sarah Kelly; son-in-law, Arnie Hersom; brothers, Glenn, Eugene, and Jerry Kendall; and sisters, Monica Bohn, Elvita Duis, Mary Brechler, Alice Kneble, Bertilla Andersen, Virginia Peters, and Francis Wills.
She is survived by her four children, Greg (Jackie) Reinders of Underwood, Iowa, Claudia (Arleen) Reinders of Laredo, Texas, Angela (Ray) Nehring of Laurens, Iowa, and Doug Reinders of Emmetsburg, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Joey, Andy, Holly, Brett, Jennifer, Breck, Josh, and Heidi; 18 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Julie Reinders of West Des Moines, Iowa; sister, Pearl Hood of Emmetsburg, Iowa; special friend, Deb Lee of West Des Moines, Iowa; as well as many other relatives and friends.
