A celebration of life for Laura Lundquist was held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Grace Church in Emmetsburg, Iowa.
Laura Ann Lundquist, daughter of Sven Hugo and Agnes Ann (Novak) Lundquist, was born July 14, 1948 in San Francisco, California. At the tender age of eight she told her parents she wanted to quit the public school in Grass Valley, California and go to Mt St Mary's Academy instead, where she went on to receive her education.
Following high school, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Azusa Pacific College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Cal State Dominguez Hills, and a Master’s Degree in Health Administration from St. Joseph College.
Laura worked as a registered nurse for Sutter Health, then moved on to the field of nursing informatics, in Auburn, California before retiring, though she'd argue, once a nurse, always a nurse. During her retirement, she had the simple but impactful goal "to be helpful." She volunteered at Sutter Health as a Patient Family Advisor and was kind to everyone she encountered. Laura was a resident of Applegate for over 35 years where she was a longtime member and board member of Parkside Church.
In 2019, Laura moved to Emmetsburg, IA, becoming a faithful member of Grace Church. Her entire life was underscored by her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Laura loved the Lord and her life exemplified this. She wanted everyone around her to know that Jesus paid the penalty for our sins by His death on the cross. She was looking forward to spending eternity with her Lord and Savior. She always said that the Lord had blessed her and she wanted to be a blessing to others.
She also had a love for cats, chocolate, and traveling. Laura visited 47 states and had been to 35 different countries, Italy being her favorite. In her free time, she enjoyed both playing and teaching the accordion. She passed on her life stories in the form of letters to her grandniece over the years, imparting wisdom and humor in typical Laura fashion.
On Sunday, June 16, 2024, Laura passed away at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sven and Agnes Lundquist; and brother, Richard Lee Lundquist.
She is survived by her nieces, Kristy (Darren) Stabler of Dunedin, Florida and Valerie (John) Rovins of Norwalk, Connecticut; nephew, Erik (Tracy) Lundquist of Roseville, California; grandniece, Ellie; longtime close family friends, Doris Dulinsky and Deborah (David) Olson of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Christopher (Elizabeth) and William Olson of Bridgeport, NE; Missy (Kaleb) Andersen of Springfield, OR as well as many other relatives and friends
