Funeral services for 69 year old Ruth Coleman will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Martin-Mattice Funeral Home. Inurnment is at Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg, Iowa.
Ruth Arlene Coleman, daughter of Keith and Virginia (Johnson) Spiker, was born November 1, 1956, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Ruth received her education in Cylinder and in Emmetsburg, graduating from Emmetsburg High School in 1975. Following high school, Ruth attended Ms. Francis College of Cosmetology in Spencer, Iowa.
On January 15, 1976, Ruth was united in marriage to Michael “Mike” Coleman at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg, Iowa. They were blessed with three daughters.
She worked at Shopko for many years and later moved to SPM Manufacturing in Spencer, Iowa, where finished her career as a manager.
She loved her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren. Being outside in nature was a favorite for her. Ruth was an avid camper and has been to almost every local campsite you can think of. Maintaining her garden was another way she enjoyed the outdoors. She always loved animals, especially her dogs.
Ruth passed away Saturday, June 1, 2024, in her home in Spencer, Iowa, at the age of 67. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Coleman; her parents, Keith and Virginia Spiker; sisters, Nancy Spiker in infancy and Linda Salter; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene and Nola Coleman.
She is survived by her three daughters, Kathy (Bill) Peart of Spencer, Iowa, Kim (Shannon) Owen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Karen (Michael) Baartman of Spencer, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Mason, Ethan, Emma, Alicia, Will, Sierra, Savannah, and Sidney; one great grandchild, Oliver; two brothers, Jim (Wanda) Spiker of Indianola, Iowa and Terry Spiker of Brownfield, Pennsylvania; as well as many other relatives and friends.
